Dear Family and Friends:
This will be the Fifth Annual Tee-Off for Cancer Research
for Fox Chase Cancer Center. Last year’s event raised over
$25,000 for cancer research and has proven even with a struggling economy, many companies are still willing to provide
sponsorship support for this worthy cause. Our tournament is a great opportunity for any company or business to gain exposure for itself while, at the same time, helping to support cancer research.
The Devlin Fund for Cancer Research at Fox Chase Cancer Center
is over five years old and to date has raised over $100,000
for cancer research. We hope to continue this success for
many years to come with our Golf and many other sponsored
events and hope to see many of you there.
After Bob’s diagnosis of Head and Neck cancer in 2004,
and prostate cancer in 2005, we felt a need to be involved
in doing something to help find a cure for this disease. As
many of you know, Linda has lost her parents and extended
family to cancer. Bob’s father lost his battle with
leukemia when he was just 28 years old. There is great probability
that had his father contracted leukemia today he could very
well be cured if not have a chronic disease rather than a
terminal one. This progress is made possible by research and
the funding that is raised to provide it.
Fox Chase Cancer Center has a new President and CEO and the
Center is growing rapidly. Unfortunately there are still a
large number of people being diagnosed every day. The good
news is that many of them are living longer or even being
cured, thanks to research being done at Fox Chase Cancer Center
and other NCI research centers across the nation.
Fox Chase Cancer Center is on the cutting edge of many new
research projects and has over two hundred clinical trials
going on at any one time. We thank all of the Researchers,
Scientists, Nurses, Doctors and staff personnel at Fox Chase
Cancer Center for all of the work they do.
The future of cancer patients’ longevity and quality
of life will require substantial amounts of money to fund
the necessary research. As many of you are aware, government
funding for cancer research has been cut tremendously in recent
years. It is up to people like us to help raise money to fight
this disease and eventually conquer it.
Thank you all so much for taking the time out of your busy
lives to help us in reaching our goal of raising money for
cancer research.
